Meeting Andrea @ ZDF Fernsehgarten (14/06/09)
zondag 28 juni 2009

Review written by Michael

At 7:30am I started the engine of my car with destination Mainz. I know the way to the ZDF very well so I drove without navigation and put the album "Rental Property" in. Hearing Andrea whilst driving and with no voice reminding me to turn, I missed the turn off for Mainz and had to circle round Wiesbaden. Finally I reached the ZDF safely.

I bought the ticket I had booked and asked somebody where Andrea would perform. Fortunately it was on the main stage (Spielfläche) where also the seat-place was. I secured me a place in the first row, but it was still very far away from the stage.
The rehearsal was running and several performers took part. Then a girl with a cardboard guitar entered the stage and they played "Rental Property". Andrea wasn't still there and she took her place for the rehearsal.

After this I left my seat and asked several members of staff, if I could go to the stage to take photos and also which person I should to ask about a meeting. It was not allowed to move during the television show, so I couldn’t go to the stage and about the contact person: Nobody knew anything!! ( always the same...)
Then I asked where the backstage area was and one of the staff pointed to a low building about 60m beside the stage. So I went there and asked the person who was sitting there. "I don't know" was his answer.
But it was certain that the performers would go from there to the stage, so I decided to come back after the Andrea’s gig.
Just as I decided to go and turned round, who was coming along???
Andrea!! and a young man beside her – George from Dramatico Germany (I asked him later for his name). I called to her and she was really delighted to see me (hope so). We had a very short talk in English and German,- I couldn´t decide which language I should use - and a man, waiting for an autograph, noticed that Andrea can speak german. He was really very surprised. I asked Andrea to sign the CDs, covers and vinyls I had with me. Then Andrea signed some picture-cards for the waiting fans and I had a small talk with George.

Because I hadn’t got the CDs, covers and vinyls , I went to my seat, fetched them and went back again to the backstage entrance and handed them to George. He said, they would meet us again 10:45am at the same place and he would give me back the items. Wow, Andrea signed them all - "Thank you very, very much Andrea, next time you will get a great flower bouquet from me, promise!!"

At 11am the TV- show began and a funny man was encouraging the spectators to clap and howl the whole time, how scary.
During the "cooking part" of the show Andrea entered the stage and waited to perform. After she was introduced by Andrea Kiewel as coming the furthest arrival directly from Melbourne to the show (didn´t she know that Andrea is living in Berlin?) and that she would look down to the others from the top of the charts very soon, Andrea sang "Rental Property", a really very fantastic performance, as always!!

After her gig I went back again (although it wasn't allowed) to the low building and saw Andrea signing there. For the end of the show she had to go to the stage again and in the waiting area for it I took some more photos , after a man recognized that I wanted to photograph her and tapped her on the shoulder.

Because George said that they would see us again after the show (if I heard right), I waited but unfortunately at the wrong place. When I discovered the right place, Andrea and George had already left, after Andrea had also signed some photocards for fans. Too bad, I would have liked to have had a further small talk with Andrea. I wanted to ask her about the coming autumn-tour. Perhaps next time.
